Every year, the Bethpage Best of LI list asks Long Islanders which their favorite businesses are in a variety of categories, including food, healthcare, and restaurants, to determine which are the most popular.
In Nassau County, Salvatore’s of Elmont on Meacham Avenue was chosen as Long Island’s best restaurant of 2022, supplanting the Anchor Down Seafood Bar and Grill in Merrick, which won last year.
Organizers of the poll cited Chef Giuseppe Carioto who “brings his Italian roots to every dish he creates, from pizza pies to pasta platters.”
They also highlighted the chef’s specialty: the linguine ai Fruitti di Mare - a seafood medley packed jam full of clams, shrimp, mussels, and calamari that is tossed in a spicy tomato sauce.
“Food tastes better when it’s made with love, and Salvatore’s of Elmont lets you take their lovingly created food home with you,” they wrote. “Carioto and his kitchen staff always make food that is fresh and classically prepared.”
Salvatore’s of Elmont was also credited for the restaurant’s specialty desserts, which include a chocolate mousse cake, fresh-filled cannoli, and a Nutella pizza.
“For over 40 years, our family has served Long Island with perfectly executed Italian classics,” the owners of Salvatore’s wrote on their website. “At Salvatore’s of Elmont, we make everything with love and the finest ingredients possible.”
